About the Tony Slattery Fanbase
"The Tony Slattery Fanbase was created to bring together fans from all over of Britain's old favourite angel-faced comedian.
Tony Slattery is a very talented man whose best years were taken away by drugs and mania. He deserves so much more than a passing mention or being included on a clip show of some kind. The good news is that he is slowly, but steadily making a comeback. He has been in a few shows recently which at least highlight his genius slightly. The bad news seems to be that he is getting parts which undermine him and overlook his intelligence in a terrible way.
This is why I created the fanbase. Mr Slattery deserves to know that he is still loved and respected, and his fans will welcome him back with open arms and the warmest admiration. He's faced his demons, been to hell and clambered slowly back up.
Has this remarkable person not the right to a second chance?"
The above passage - if you can call it that - was written by myself three years ago. My opinion has not changed. Tony really does deserve to know that there are still people out here who support and admire him. Even if we don't know him personally, we admire or like him for his talent and we respect him greatly. His strength is simply astounding. For that we tip our hats... or raise our glasses... or whatever it is we fans supposedly do of an evening.
